How to Change Default Notification Sound and Haptics on iPhone?

Apple introduced some new sound alerts and ringtones with iOS 17, and also changed the default notification sound from the classic “Tri-tone” to “Rebound”. However, many users didn’t like this change and felt the new sound seemed quieter. Thankfully, you no longer have to stick to a monotonous sound. Apple released the fourth beta of iOS 17.2 on 28 November 2023, and it brings a new, much-requested feature, the option to change the default notification sound and haptics on an iPhone. This is the first time ever that Apple allows its users to change the sound of default alerts to whatever they prefer. Let’s see how to change default notification sound on iPhone.

  • Open the Settings app on your iPhone and tap on Sound & Haptics.
  • Here, you’ll find a new “Defaults Alerts” section. Tap on it.
  • You can now choose your preferred sound for all incoming notifications and alerts from the options available under Alert Tones. You’ll notice that the list has all of the text tones.
